I became an Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition shortly after retiring in 2015.
It became a passion to help others with health issues, however,I had gained a lot of weight but couldn't lose any, even though I was eating much smaller portions. While studying nutrition, I exercised and tried different diets to figure out what kept the weight on.
I discovered that it was the quality of the food I was eating, not just portion size. I eliminated wheat, refined carbs and began eating a plant based diet. I lost 30 lbs. and have maintained my weight for over 9 years!
I couldn't believe how easy the weight came off, however, something was still wrong -
I was still not feeling well!
I continued to experience anxiety as a result of toxic relationships and stress from a 30 year career that had ended! I soon realized health and wellness is a connection of the body, mind and spirit. Oftentimes what we experience psychologically expresses in how we eat as food comforts the issues we experience.
Several years later I moved to another state, found my connection mentally and spiritually, and now living a fulfilled life!
Everyone is biologically different (we call it bio-individuality) and one shoe does not fit all. The integration of mind, body and spirit cannot be denied as it is the sum total of the whole.
